NEW CASTLE (DE) BY DIGITAL STAFF: Delaware State Police are investigating a road rage shooting incident that occurred near the Route 13 and 40 split in New Castle Monday afternoon.

Police say the shooting took place at the Relax Inn at 133 South Dupont Highway in New Castle Monday afternoon.

According to police, a 23-year-old male was operating a red 2008 Toyota Camry northbound Route 13 at Route 40 when the Camry made a lane change that cut off a dark colored sedan.

Police say the Camry then made a u-turn and entered the parking lot of the Relax Inn. It was then that police say the dark colored sedan pulled next to the Camry in the parking lot and the operators exchanged words.

The 23-year-old male victim got back into his vehicle and attempted to exit the parking lot when his rear windshield was struck by gunfire. No one was injured during the incident.

At the scene, Troopers discovered eight .380 caliber shell casings and say the suspect was described as a black male wearing all dark clothing.
