Shows run from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and CDC guidelines will be enforced for everyone’s safety.

WILMINGTON (DE) BY DIGITAL STAFF: LIVE! In The Parks Returns For 2021 Summer Concert Series, June 14 – August 18, in Rockford and Brandywine Parks.

If you plan on going to a Wilmington Summer Concert Series, there’s a few things you need to know – Like there will not be any food trucks at any of this summer’s concerts being held in Wilmington parks from June 14th to August 18th.

According to a news release, the concert series, a partnership between The Friends of Wilmington Parks and Delaware State Parks, kicks off at 6:30 p.m. this evening at Rockford Tower with singer/songwriter Nihkee Bleu.

Bring family and friends – and pets! – along with picnic baskets and lawn chairs to our free Summer Concert Series in Rockford Park on Monday evenings and in Brandywine Park at the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday evenings, from now through August 18.

The release explains that shows run from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and CDC guidelines will be enforced for everyone’s safety. Social distancing is required, and attendees are required to have a mask to enter Rockford Park.

Current COVID-19 guidelines permit only 250 people to gather, and guests that arrive late may be asked to return to their vehicles if capacity is reached. There will be no food trucks or concessions on site this year out of an abundance of caution.

It’s unknown if there will be COVID-19 vaccinations at the summer concert series as it was not mentioned in the news release, and an email to city’s communications Director has not been answered by  the time we published this story.

Last week, Mayor Mike Purzycki, announced that organizations seeking event permits will only be approved if they offer covid-19 vaccinations at the events.

To encourage more people to get vaccinated and to ensure that Wilmington’s underserved communities have access to the vaccine, the City now requires any individual or organization seeking a City outdoor event permit to allow vaccinations to be offered at that event., explains the news release.

“Anyone sponsoring an outdoor City-permitted event should be eager to be part of the COVID solution and recovery,” said the Mayor. “Let’s do it for ourselves, our families, and for the community as a whole.”

For more information on times and dates – along with a complete listing of each performing artist – please visit the Friends of Wilmington Parks (FOWP) Website: www.friendsofwilmingtonparks.org.
