A shooting at a large house party left 22-Year-Old Aaron Moore dead and two others injured. Now police want those at the party to come forward with any information they may have.
NEW CASTLE (DE) BY GEORGS SHEA: After waiting almost 12 hours for police to release information about the shooting and whether there was an immediate danger to the public, police issued it’s first release regarding a shooting that occurred overnight in a quiet residential neighborhood.
New Castle County Police say the shooting occurred overnight in the Salem Woods development in Newark and have left one person dead and two others injured.
It was just after 1:00 a.m. when New Castle County 9-1-1 Communications Center began receiving 9-1-1 calls from residents on Louis Court in the Salem Woods development.
Officers from multiple police departments were dispatched to the scene as well as medics and located three shooting victims. Both police and medics began administering first aid, however in spite of their best efforts, one 22-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two others were treated at the scene by EMS and New Castle County Paramedics before being transported to Christiana Hospital.
“A second victim, a 17-year-old male, was struck by gun fire multiple times and was transported to Christiana Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.,” Said police spokesman Michel Eckerd. “The third victim, a 19-year-old male, was also transported to Christiana hospital with a gunshot wound and was also listed in stable condition.”
“The New Castle County Division of Police extends their deepest condolences to the members of the victims’ families.,” Eckerd added.
A witness at the scene told Delaware Newsline that they heard an argument out on the street and then several rounds of gunfire that followed.
“There was a lot of commotion. People yelling. Stuff like that. And um, heard a bunch of shots.,” Said Bill Connors who heard the gunfire from his nearby home. “I heard one shot, then pow, pow, pow, pow, pow. Then we heard people screaming. There were cars lined up and they were flying down the street trying to get out.”
“It’s shocking. It’s shocking,” Connors added when asked if violence is a regular occurrence in the neighborhood.
Investigators say there was a significant number of people on the street who may have witnessed and/or videoed an altercation leading up to the shooting and are asking anyone with information/or video pertaining to this investigation to contact Det.
