Senior Roll Call Lifeline is a free service provided by New Castle County Police that calls the homes of its members every day to ensure they are doing well and do not require emergency assistance.
NCCPD HEADQUARTERS (DE) BY DIGITAL STAFF: Amid the recent heat waves we have been experiencing this pats month, New Castle County Police‘s “Senior Roll Call Lifeline program” came to the aid of 3 senior citizens.
Police say on Monday, June 7th a 74-year-old male in the community of Fairfax, failed to answer his daily call from Senior Roll Call which they say was very unusual for him. Patrol Officers were dispatched to the address and found the victim very disoriented and laying on his stomach on the garage floor.
Police say at the time, the outside temperature was 91 degrees with a heat index of 99 degrees.
He fell around 4 PM the previous day when the outdoor temperature was around 88 degrees. He remained on the garage floor for about 19 hours, before being admitted to a local area hospital for treatment.
On Saturday, June 19th, an 80-year-old female, in the community of Spring Crossings Apartments, failed to answer her daily call for the 2nd day in a row. On this day, none of her emergency contacts were reachable so a welfare check was requested. Patrol officers were dispatched and found the victim on the floor of her residence. She had fallen earlier that morning and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
Then on Wednesday, June 23rd, a 79-year-old female in the community of Limestone Hills, before finally making contact with her. The victim told the Senior Roll Call operator that she fainted while walking her dog and believes she may need medical attention because she was feeling disoriented. The operator kept her on the phone and was able to dispatch EMS. The victim was admitted to a local area hospital where she was treated for dehydration and other injuries.

With another heat wave predicted this week police say it is imperative to check on our senior citizens, especially those living alone.
Senior Roll Call Lifeline is a free service provided by New Castle County Police that calls the homes of its members every day to ensure they are doing well and do not require emergency assistance. If calls are unsuccessful after several attempts, help is sent to the home to check on the well-being of the member.
Since its introduction in 1995, Senior Roll Call Lifeline has helped make countless “saves” for individuals who have suffered a debilitating injury or ailment leaving them unable to help themselves.
The program is available at no cost to all senior or disabled citizens residing in New Castle County.
