New Castle County Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead in the Cedar Heights community Wednesday night.
WILMINGTON (DE) BY DIGITAL STAFF: New Castle County Police are asking for the publics help – especially those who were present at the crime scene, and who may have recorded video of the shooting, to help them identify the occupants inside a vehicle of interest.
Police say it was on Wednesday June 2, 2021 when patrol officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Cedar avenue in the Cedar Heights community around 4:00 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
“When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a black male victim who suffered from a gun shot wound to the upper body.,” Said police spokesman Michel Eckerd. “The officers attempted First Aid however the victim had already succumbed to his wound.”
The victim was later identified as 28-year-old, Rajohn Hardaway.
The investigation has led detectives to conclude that numerous eyewitnesses were present at the time of the crime and Detectives are asking any witnesses, or any other persons with information and/or video pertaining to this investigation to contact Det. “It is difficult to describe the anger and frustration of yet another young man who has lost his life to a senseless act of violence,” stated Col. Vaughn M. Bond, Jr. “The suspect(s) responsible for this crime must be identified and apprehended; however, the police can’t do it alone. The young victim leaves behind a devastated family who deserves to know what occurred and who is responsible for murdering their loved one. To withhold information only serves to intensify the excruciating pain that this family is experiencing so I am pleading for anyone with information to provide it to us anonymously.”
In it’s first update in over 6 weeks, police say they have a vehicle of interest in the case and is asking anyone who knows anything about the vehicle or it’s occupants to contact them.

Investigators say the vehicle in the photograph was in the vicinity of the scene at the time of the incident and are requesting anyone with information pertaining to this vehicle or the identity of its occupants to please contact Det.
