According to police, the crash happened in the area of the 100th block of Pierson Drive, when the Honda Insight drove left of center and struck the Kia head-on.
HOCKESSIN, DE (DNTV): A juvenile is in critical condition following a high-speed crash in Wellington Hills according to New Castle County Police.
Police say they are investigating the crash that occurred in the area of Pierson Drive in the community of Wellington Hills Saturday night around 10:00 p.m.
Patrol officers and first responders arrived at the scene and discovered a two-vehicle crash involving a silver Honda Insight & a Teal Kia Telluride.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 38-year-old female was operating a Kia Telluride and was traveling northbound on Pierson Drive. At the same time, a Honda Insight, which was being operated by a juvenile was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Pierson Drive in the opposite direction.
According to police, the crash happened in the area of the 100th block of Pierson Drive, when the Honda Insight drove left of center and struck the Kia head-on.
The juvenile driver was trapped in the Honda for approximately 40 minutes prior to being transported to a local area hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The driver of the Kia Telluride was also transported to a local area hospital and is in stable condition.
Police said, the investigation is still ongoing; however, it appear that speed is a factor.
