NEW CASTLE, DE (DNTV): Police are searching for a man they say are wanted by a Maryland law enforcement agency after fleeing from them Saturday.
Police say shortly after 1am, Tuesday August 10th, a vehicle operated by a fugitive from Maryland fled from Maryland authorities into Delaware.
Multiple Delaware agencies located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a stop. The vehicle fled and was last seen in the area of Frenchtown Road at Basin Road.
New Castle City officers continued to search the area. Approximately two hours later, officers located the unoccupied vehicle in the 700 Block of W 12th Street. After an extensive multi-jurisdictional search police have cleared the area. The search involved K9 handlers, patrol officers on foot, and support from the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit.
New Castle City will continue active patrols in the area, but based on the time between witnessing the vehicle occupied and the recovery of the vehicle, along with the extensive search conducted, authorities are confident the suspect has fled the area.
