A Fatal shooting early Saturday night took the young life of an 18-Year-Old Wilmington man in the city’s Ninth Ward neighborhood.
WILMINGTON (DE) BY GEORGE SHEA, PHOTOJOURNALIST: Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of an 18-Year-Old man Saturday evening in the city’s Ninth Ward neighborhood.
Police say the shooting happened Saturday night just before 5:00 p.m. in the 200 block of W. 30th Street.
Patrol officers located the 18-Year-Old victim police said, who was treated at the scene by St. Francis EMS and New Castle County Paramedics before being transported to a local area hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police released no other information about the shooting and said further details will be released when possible.
At the scene, evidence markers could be seen throughout the entire block as investigators analyze the crime scene and search for any possible witnesses or suspects. Some vehicles were also struck by gunfire.
About three houses east of the crime scene, three small children play outside their home on the sidewalk.
On Sunday October 24, 2021, police identified the victim as Synai Smith.
According to the gun violence archive, to date 33 people have been killed and 101 people have been injured as a result of the Wilmington Gun Violence epidemic.
