Man found deceased with gunshot wound behind New Castle Gas Station

Police swarmed a New Castle area gas station after man was found dead in the rear of the building.

NEW CASTLE (DE) BY GEORGE SHEA: Delaware State Police are investigating a Thursday morning homicide at a New Castle area gas station, after a man was found deceased in the back of the gas station.

Police say troopers were called to the Super Fuels gas station in the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue Thursday morning around 8:00 a.m. for a man lying next to the building.

Troopers located the victim in the rear of the gas station with a gunshot wound. New Castle County Paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced him dead police said. Police said his body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

At the crime scene that remained cordoned off most of the day, investigators seem to be focused on a set of dumpsters in the rear of the gas station, as well as a gas pump where an evidence marker laid. Two other vehicles also seemed to grab the attention of investigators. Both of the vehicles were SUV’s. One was parked almost at a pump and the other was in the side parking lot.

As the body laid face down on the ground in the back of the building, investigators were scanning the parking lot around the body for any evidence.

As the investigation continued into the late morning hours, investigators were seen at the Super Lodge Motel that sites in the rear of the gas station and the McDonalds that sits next to the gas station on New Castle Avenue. It’s not known why they were at either property or if either property had been struck by gunfire however, according to other media sources, the awning on the McDonalds drive through had been struck by gunfire.

Police say there is currently no suspect information and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
