On Saturday, December 20th, 2014 at approximately 12:43p.m., police responded to the area of 67 Lowery Drive in the Woodland Apartments Complex for a report of a suspicious vehicle which was occupied by two males. Officers arrived on scene and found one victim (Nicholas Riley), deceased from a gunshot wound. The other male was also located and transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was listed in critical condition and later survived.
The New Castle County Police Cold Case Unit is part of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division and includes cold case investigators. The Unit typically handles cases that have remained unsolved after a year, and after all investigative leads have been exhausted by the primary investigator.
Members of the Cold Case Unit work tirelessly to pursue new leads in these cases, and to deliver justice on behalf of those who have been affected by crime.
