NEW CASTLE, DE (DNTV): A 29-Year-Old New Castle man was shot in the stomach after he got out of his vehicle and engaged in a verbal confrontation with another driver Delaware State Police said.
Police say troopers responded to Route 273 and Route 13, also known as Hares Corner for a report of a shooting at the McDonalds on Sunday September 11, 2022, at approximately 8:52 a.m.
According to police, prior to their arrival, the victim entered the McDonalds, located at 101 South Dupont Highway, New Castle, suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. Troopers located the victim, who was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.
Police say a further investigation revealed the incident took place on eastbound Route 273 at the intersection with North Dupont Highway (Route 13). The victim was stopped on eastbound Route 273, at the red traffic signal, in the left turn lane for northbound Route 13. The victim exited his vehicle police said, and approached the driver’s side of the vehicle stopped next to him and had a verbal altercation. As a result, the victim was then shot one time in the stomach. Police say the suspect vehicle then fled the scene southbound on Route 13.
The suspect vehicle was described as a four-door sedan. There is no further description of the suspect or vehicle information at this time.
