A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in an arrest in connection with a 2018 murder.
WILMINGTON, DE (DNTV): On February 25, 2018, at approximately 9:24 a.m., Wilmington Police responded to the 2300 block of North Market Street in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim – 43-year-old Richard Young – who had succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation continued, and the efforts of Detective Mary Quinn and the Cold Case Unit – including Cold Case Investigator Steven Rizzo and Detective Devon Jones – led to the identification of 23-year-old Nasir Anderson as a suspect.
The case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury on February 13, and an indictment was returned for Anderson.
Police were able to take 23-year-old Nasir Anderson into custody on February 14, following a pedestrian stop.
He has been charged with Murder (First Degree), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Three Counts, Home Invasion, Robbery (First Degree), Conspiracy (Second Degree), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,303,000 cash-only bail.
