The Delaware State Police is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred yesterday morning in the Wilmington area.
WILMINGTON, DE (DNTV): An elderly couple were found dead by troopers after receiving a disturbing 9-1-1 phone call at the Delaware State Police Communications Center around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
State Police dispatchers sent troopers to an address in the 1800 block of Veale Road in Wilmington to check on the welfare of the couple.
“Responding troopers gained entry through an unsecured side door and discovered two elderly subjects, an 87-year-old male and an 86-year-old female deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.,” said Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Jason Hatchell.
Hatchell added, “Both subjects who live at the residence were pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Troopers also found a handgun in the possession of the male.
The Homicide Unit is still actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective B. McDerby by calling 302-741-2821.
