REHOBOTH BEACH, DE (DNTV): Rehoboth Beach Police are investigating after a man and a woman were found with gunshot wounds to the head in a Rehoboth Beach Hotel early Sunday afternoon. Police say the man was dead at the scene and the woman, who was barely hanging on to life, was transported to an area hospital where she remains on life support.
It was on Sunday, April 30th, at around 12:18pm when police were dispatched to the Bellmoor Inn on Christian Street after receiving a call from the hotel staff reporting the two bodies that were discovered in a room by staff. The caller also indicated that the incident appeared to be a suicide.
Upon arrival police say, the initial officer made entry into the room and located two victims, a male and a female, both had sustained gunshot wounds to the head. Police also located loaded 9mm handguns within the immediate vicinity of each victim.
The officer quickly determined that the male victim was deceased and the female victim was unconscious, but breathing. The officer immediately began rendering first aid until emergency medical services personnel arrived on scene and assumed care of the patient. The female was removed from the scene and transported to a local hospital where she remains on life support.
Out of respect for the privacy of the families of the victims their names are not being released at this time. They were only identified as a 23 year old female from Newark, Delaware and a 28 year old male from Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
According to Rehoboth Beach Police Chief Jamie Banks, police are not seeking any additional persons in relation to this investigation and there are no current threats to public safety.
