Inmate charged after attacking two correctional officers at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center

Two correctional officers, a 54-year-old male victim and a 61-year-old male victim were attacked by Pitts, an inmate at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center

SMYRNA (DE) BY DNTV: Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Korah Pitts of Penns Grove, NJ for assault and other associated charges following an investigation at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center that began in mid-August.

On August 18, 2022, at approximately 7:30 p.m., two correctional officers, a 54-year-old male victim and a 61-year-old male victim were attacked by Pitts, an inmate at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, while performing their normal duties. Pitts attacked the victims and used an improvised weapon to strike them multiple times in the head. After additional officers arrived to the scene Pitts was successfully restrained and placed in handcuffs.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital and treated for injuries to the head and face.

On September 5, 2022, troopers responded to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center and charged Pitts with Recklessly Assault in a Detention Facility with Serious Injury (Felony) – 2 counts, Assault 1st Degree Intentionally Cause Injury to an Officer (Felony)- 2 counts, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony) – 2 counts, Promoting Prison Contraband, Resisting Arrest with Force (Felony), Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony), and Criminal Mischief.

Pitts was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 3 and remained in the custody of the Department of Correction on $121,600 unsecured bond.

Deputy Bureau Chief of Prisons Paul G. Shavack advised Korah Pitts is currently serving a 5 year prison sentence for Robbery 1st Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony. He has been incarcerated in the Department of Correction since August 2018.

Police make arrest made in Fatal Coastal Taproom Shooting

Upon arrival a 41-year-old victim of Lewes, DE was located in the bar area suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Beebe Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

REHOBOTH BEACH (DE) BY DIGITAL CRIME STAFF: Delaware State Police arrested Edward Martin, 46, of Millsboro, DE, for murder after an incident early Sunday morning.

On February 20, 2022, at approximately 12:45 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a shooting at the Coastal Taproom located at 18766 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach.  Upon arrival a 41-year-old victim of Lewes, DE was located in the bar area suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to Beebe Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Through investigation it was learned the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal argument over a game of pool.  During the verbal argument the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim in the chest.  The suspect then fled the scene.  Through investigative means the suspect was identified as Edward Martin.

Troopers located Martin operating a motor vehicle in the Long Neck area and a traffic stop was conducted. Martin was taken into custody without incident, and a subsequent probable cause search led to the discovery of a gun inside of the vehicle.

Martin was then transported to Troop 7 where he was charged with Murder 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.

Martin was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $800,000 cash bond.

Man arrested in Barbershop shooting death of 23-year-old Javon D. Jones

Delaware State Police have arrested 23-year-old Kyree Robinson of Dover, DE for murder and other related charges following a shooting incident that occurred in Dover in May 2021.

DOVER (DE) BY DIGITAL CRIME STAFF: On May 15th, 2021, at approximately 5:42 p.m., troopers responded to Uplift Barber Shop located at 1534 Governors Avenue, Dover, DE for a shooting incident. The investigation determined 23-year-old Javon D. Jones of Dover was a patron in the barbershop when an unknown male suspect entered through the front door of the business and fired multiple shots at Jones, striking him in the upper torso before fleeing on foot. Jones was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Through investigative measures, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit identified Kyree Robinson as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On April 20th, 2022, Robinson was charged with Murder First Degree (Felony), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony).

He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and issued a $1,070,000 cash bond. Robinson, who was incarcerated at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution at the time of his arraignment, remained in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Man jailed in relation to stabbing death of 45-Year-Old Michael White

On Thursday May 5, 2022, suspect Frank Deshields was extradited to Delaware State Police Troop 5 from the Wicomico County Corrections Center without incident.

NEW CASTLE (DE) BY DIGITAL CRIME STAFF: On April 10, 2022, at approximately 2:42 p.m., troopers responded to The Super Lodge located at 1213 West Avenue, New Castle, for a reported stabbing. Responding troopers found the victim, Michael White, 45, of New Castle, outside the motel suffering from an apparent stab wound to his upper torso area. He was transported to an area hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.

Through investigative measures, Frank Deshields, 52, of New Castle, was established as a suspect in this homicide. On April 11, 2022, an arrest warrant was obtained for Deshields for Murder First Degree and weapon charges.

On April 27, 2022, at 2:35 p.m., Frank Deshields was arrested without incident by the USMS First State Fugitive Task Force at a residence in the 500 block of E. Williams Street, Salisbury, MD. Deshields was transported to the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack where he was charged as a Fugitive of Justice. Deshields is being held at the Wicomico County Corrections Center pending extradition to Delaware.

On Thursday May 5, 2022, suspect Frank Deshields was extradited to Delaware State Police Troop 5 from the Wicomico County Corrections Center without incident. Deshields was charged with Murder First Degree (Felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), and Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (Felony).

Deshields was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $563,000 cash bond.

Two arrested for shooting death of 49-Year-Old Frank Pavlovic

At some point during the encounter, the victim was shot in the upper torso. Marcus then fled the vehicle in an unknown direction of travel, police say.

LAUREL (DE) BY DIGITAL CRIME STAFF: Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is currently conducting a homicide investigation that began Thursday morning in Laurel, DE.

On April 7th, 2022, at approximately 12:24 a.m., troopers responded to the 18000 block of Laurel Road in Laurel, DE for a report of a shooting. Responding troopers located the victim, later identified as 49-year-old Frank Pavlovic of Laurel, in the driveway suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

The ensuing investigation revealed that two subjects had been involved in an altercation with the victim at this residence. During the encounter, the suspects robbed and shot the victim. The suspects then ordered an acquaintance of the victim at gunpoint to drive them away from the scene.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification is pending notification to the next of kin.

Through investigative measures, it was determined that the two suspects involved in this incident were 18-year-old Josiah Garrison of Denton, MD and 21-year-old Ramon Duker of Millsboro, DE. On April 7th, 2022 at approximately 2:20 p.m., Garrison traveled to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE seeking treatment for an injury.

Garrison was accompanied by Duker at the hospital. Troopers responded to Beebe Medical Center and took both suspects into custody.

Garrison and Duker were transported to Troop 7 and charged with Murder First Degree (Felony), Robbery First Degree (Felony), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Kidnapping Second Degree (Felony), and Conspiracy First Degree (Felony).

Garrison and Duker were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and both were committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,146,000 cash bond.
