DELAWARE'S DRUG EPIDEMIC

The nation’s drug overdose epidemic continues to change and become worse. One prevailing theme is the fact that the epidemic now is driven by illicit fentanyl, fentanyl analogs, methamphetamine, and cocaine, often in combination or in adulterated forms.

In Delaware, 88% of the 401 reported drug overdose deaths involved opioids in 2018—a total of 355 fatalities. In 2018, Delaware providers wrote 60.6 opioid prescriptions for every 100 persons compared to the average U.S. rate of 51.4 prescriptions.

Delaware Newsline will be joining families of some of those drug overdose victims to learn more about living the life as a drug addict and how you can get help.
